Questions
Why does my upload keep getting rejected? Almost always the file size. The PAN portal caps photos and signatures at 20 KB, which a phone photo exceeds by a factor of a hundred. This tool crops to the right dimensions first, then compresses until it fits.
How should I photograph a signature? Sign in black ink on plain white paper, photograph it straight on in good light, and crop tightly to the signature before uploading here. A grey, shadowed photograph compresses badly and reads poorly.
Are the requirements the same everywhere? No. NSDL and UTIITSL have differed over time, and rules change. Check the current guidance on the portal you are actually using.
